INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State senior Kim Demmings (Richmond, Ind.) is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while the Raiders’ Emily Vogelpohl (Cincinnati, Ohio) is the Freshman of the Week for the week of Nov. 23-29.

Wright State hosted Southeastern Louisiana before participating in the Lone Star Showcase down in Cedar Park, Texas over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Raiders defeated the Lions in a 106-72 decision to mark the third-most points scored in a contest in Wright State history where the team saw five players with double-digit scoring. The squad kicked-off the Lone Star Showcase with a loss to #25/21 Iowa, 83-77, as the Hawkeyes held off a late rally from the Raiders that pulled their 21-point deficit within three. In the second game of the Showcase, Wright State bounced back against Houston to capture a 75-61 victory over the Cougars in which the Raiders outscored Houston 46-33 in the second half. Capping off the Lone Star Showcase was Wright State’s upset win over #24/23 George Washington 77-71. The Raiders were down as much as 16 points in the first quarter and rallied to outscore the Colonials the next three to claim the win and go 2-1 for the Showcase.

Demmings was the anchor for Wright State over the week averaging 23.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.5 apg and 2.0 spg. The senior went for 18 points, four steals and three assists versus Southeastern Louisiana to start the week. She then continued to produce for the Raiders as she tallied 28 points and eight rebounds versus ranked Iowa and 14 points over Houston the following day. In the Raiders’ key upset win over #24/23 George Washington, Demmings went for a season-high of 32 points, with 14 of those coming in the fourth quarter and 21 altogether in the second half to help ignite the upset win. In addition for the week, the senior shot 37-for-84 (.440) from the field, 10-for-30 from behind the arc (.333) and 8-for-13 (.615) from the charity stripe.

Vogelpohl also played a key role in Wright State’s success this past week as the freshman averaged 15.0 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.8 apg and 3.8 spg. Vogelpohl posted 17 points with four triples, five steals and five assists against Southeastern Louisiana. The freshmen went on to record strong numbers facing Iowa with 15 points, five steals and three assists and Houston with 11 points. To conclude her Lone Star Showcase outing, Vogelpohl notched 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists in the upset over the Colonials.

Wright State hosts Butler on Friday, November 4 with a 5:00 p.m. tip-off live on ESPN3.

Top Players of the Week:
Brianne Cohen, Detroit (So., F): Averaged 18.0 ppg and 8.5 rpg off the bench for Detroit while tallying a career-best 19 points over St. Bonaventure. In addition, went 8-for-13 from the field for 17 points and nine rebounds against Niagara.
Jenny Lindner, Milwaukee (So., G): Averaged a double-double in Florida for Milwaukee with 13.3 ppg and 10.3 rpg. Posted 20 points and a career-high 15 rebounds in the win over La Salle.
Rebecca Lyttle, Northern Kentucky (Jr., F): Averaged 12.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 3.0 apg, 3.0 spg and 1.5 bpg for Northern Kentucky. Scored 18 points with eight rebounds against Tennessee Tech and seven points with 6 boards and four steals over Robert Morris.
Kelsea Newman, Youngstown State (Jr., F): Tied school record for three-pointers in a game with eight at Oakland en route to scoring 27 points on just 14 field goal attempts. In addition, had nine points and seven rebounds in win over Robert Morris.
Olivia Voskuhl, Cleveland State (So., F): Scored a career-high 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds at Niagara.
Jasmyn Walker, Valparaiso (So., F): Posted a double-double versus Northern Colorado with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Top Freshmen of the Week:
Ashanti Abshaw, Cleveland State (F): Recorded her first 20-point game of career with a team-high 21 points versus Niagara. Also tabbed five rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Molly Glick, Northern Kentucky (F): Scored 11 points over Tennessee Tech in the win for the Norse.
Meredith Hamlet, Valparaiso (G): Averaged 10.7 ppg over three contests for the Crusaders while going 11-for-11 from the charity stripe.
Bailey Jackson, Detroit (G): Averaged 5.5 points while scoring eight points and dishing out three assists versus Niagara.
