Antou Jallow Drafted In the Fourth Round of MLS SuperDraft

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Major League Soccer seem to be forming quite the partnership. UWM senior Antou Jallow was selected by the San Jose Earthquakes in the fourth round of Friday's (Jan. 14) MLS SuperDraft, marking the third consecutive season a Panther has been drafted by the league. Jallow was the 41st overall selection, the highest of UWM's three MLS draftees.

"I am really pleased for Antou," UWM head coach Louis Bennett said. "This is very well-deserved. He has been the elite player in the Horizon League the last few seasons and now he will get a chance to show his skills on the next level."

Jallow finished his four-year career this past November after leading UWM to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season and to four straight NCAA Tournaments overall. The Uppsala, Sweden native was named the Horizon League Tournament Player of the Year in both 2002 and 2004 and earned first-team all-league honors three straight campaigns.

The senior striker ended his four-year career as UWM's and the Horizon League's all-time leading goal scorer with 60 goals after tallying a league-best 18 this season. Jallow also ended his career with 133 career points, good for second all-time in school history. Jallow excelled in the classroom as well, earning First-Team Academic All-America honors from ESPN and NSCAA/adidas Third-Team Scholar All-America accolades this past fall.

Jallow will join a familiar face in San Jose as former Panther midfielder and 2004 draftee Tighe Dombrowski is currently on the Earthquake roster.Dombrowski, who played in three games last season, joined his brother Chad (44th pick in 2003) as UWM's first two MLS draftees.
