Carmel, Ind. - The Butler women's golf team put another one in the record books on Sunday afternoon as the Bulldogs claimed their fourth consecutive Horizon League Women's Golf Championship at Plum Creek Golf Club in Carmel, Ind.
BU (954) got all it could handle from runner-up Youngstown State (961), topping the Penguins by a narrow seven-stroke margin.
Medalist honors at the tournament went to YSU freshman Katie Rogner, who carded a final-round 72 (E) to give her a three-round total of 230 and a two shot victory over Butler's Lauren Showers (232). Cleveland State's Mallory Wyderka placed third with a 237, while BU's Lynnsey Showers finished in fourth (238).
The Horizon League also announced its post-season awards at the event, which meant more hardware for Rogner. The Warren, Ohio native took home Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year accolades. Also placing on the All-League squad were Butler's Lauren Showers and Paige McCracken; Loyola's Lucy McGovern; and Detroit's Mandi Dupuis, Rachel McHenry and Ashley Hamilton. Youngstown State head coach Roseann Schwartz was named the conference's Coach of the Year.
