TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Senior Andy Baker earned All-America recognition for the second consecutive year and Butler wound up 29th in the team competition at the 2008 NCAA Men's Cross Country Championship held in Terre Haute on Monday (Nov. 24). Indiana State hosted the national meet, held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course.
Baker covered the 10K national championship layout in 30:14 to place 40th overall and earn All-America honors. He actually ran eight seconds faster in the cold, wet and windy conditions on Monday than he did a year, when he placed 28th in the national meet. He was just 13 seconds away from a "Top 25" finish.
"The field ran really well today," said Butler head coach Matt Roe after the meet. "Andy ran faster than a year ago, but this year's field was much stronger."
