INDIANAPOLIS -- Butler’s Kirsty Legg (Middlesbourgh, U.K.) and Milwaukee’s Samia Taylor (Madison, Wis.) have been named the Horizon League Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 16 - 22.
Legg competed at the Gladstein Invitational in the mile run. She was the first collegiate finisher in the race with a time of 4:40.86. She nearly beat her school record time of 4:40.25, finishing runner-up to Butler assistant coach Mason Cathey.
Taylor, a junior for the Panthers, competed in the triple jump and long jump over the weekend, claiming first place in both events. In the triple jump, she had a leap of 12.58m, which is the second-longest jump in UWM history. She also had the second-longest long jump in school history with a 5.93m leap.
Butler will be back in action Jan. 27-28 at the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind. Milwaukee will also compete at the two-day Jack Jennett Invitational in Cedar Falls, Iowa on Jan. 27 and 28.
