INDIANAPOLIS -- Champions of the Horizon League, Cleveland State and UIC each drew national seeds in the Men's and Women's NCAA Tennis Championships, respectively. The Vikings will head to Lexington, Ky., for the third straight season, meeting the 10th-seeded University of Kentucky, while the Flames will venture west to Stanford University, meeting the No. 1 seed Cardinals.
NCAASports.com streamed the 64-team bracket for the tournaments, which will feature matches on campus sites May 13-15 before the Round of 16 begins on May 19 at the Taube Tennis Center in Stanford, Calif.
Cleveland State will take on No. 10 Kentucky on Friday, May 13, at 3 p.m. ET. On the opposite side of the bracket, Louisville meets Cornell, with the winners advancing to a second round match on Saturday, May 14 at 3 p.m.
The Vikings and Wildcats met on Feb. 13, with Kentucky claiming a 6-1 victory in Lexington. John Haley picked up Cleveland State’s lone win at No. 4 singles.
Cleveland State enters the tournament with a 16-7 overall record, including a perfect 7-0 in Horizon League play. CSU defeated Green Bay, 4-1, on April 23 to capture its fourth straight Horizon League Championship.
Kentucky, seeded 10th in the tournament, enters the NCAA Championship at 26-8 overall, advancing to the SEC title match and losing to Florida, 4-0.
On the women’s side of the bracket, the 15-time Horizon League champion UIC women's tennis team will face the No. 1 overall seed Stanford Cardinals in the first round. The Flames and Cardinal will meet at the Taube Tennis Center at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday, May 14. The winner faces off with the Long Beach State-Pepperdine victor on Sunday, May 15 at 4 p.m. ET.
UIC begins the NCAA Tournament with an 18-4 overall record, including an undefeated mark in Horizon League play. The Flames have gone 133 matches without a defeat in League matches.
