INDIANAPOLIS - Cleveland State University sophomore Mark deSwadt has been named the Horizon League Men’s Swimmer of the Week for the period of Nov. 16-22.
DeSwardt claims his second straight weekly honor with an outstanding performance at the TYR Northwestern Invitational this past weekend, a meet that included three Big Ten conference programs and the University of Illinois at Chicago, defending Horizon League champions.
DeSwardt’s highpoint came in the 1,650-yard freestyle as he touched the wall first in an NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 15:27.19, which ranks him fifth nationally. Last season’s Horizon League Athlete of the Year also racked up times of 1:51.16, 3:57.85 and 4:29.34 in the 500 free, 400 individual medley and 200 butterfly.
This marks the seventh career weekly honor for deSwardt in just his sophomore season.
