INDIANAPOLIS - Cleveland State University junior forward Slavisa Ubiparipovic has been named Horizon League Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the period of Oct. 20-26. It marks the first time in his career Ubiparipovic has captured the award.
Ubiparipovic, a native of Mentor, Ohio, scored a league-best five points last week, all of them coming in CSU's 3-0 win over Wright State University on Saturday. He assisted on junior Stephen Byer's goal in the seventh minute and then added two tallies of his own. Ubiparipovic scored in the 11th and 37th minutes, leading the Vikings to their fifth Horizon League victory of the season.
Ubiparipovic also had one shot on goal in Cleveland State's 1-0 loss at Ohio State last Wednesday.
For the week, Ubiparipovic totaled five points on two goals and an assist. He also had four shots, with each of the tries on goal. He now has three goals and three assists on the season, and he leads the Vikings in shots (24) and shots on goal (19).
Ubiparipovic and Cleveland State (7-7-2, 5-2-0 HL) conclude their regular season schedule Sunday with a 2 p.m. ET contest at No. 21 Butler University in a match featuring the two teams with the most points in the Horizon League standings. Heading into the final week of the regular season, CSU holds a 15-14 points edge in the standings.
