INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State junior Corey Davis and Cleveland State senior Anthony Sambula have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of March 7-13.
Davis picked up Batter of the Week accolades for the first time after going 8-for-17 (.471) with five RBIs in four games over the weekend. He also registered a .941 slugging percentage and .471 on-base percentage for the Raiders.
The catcher, a native of Happy Valley, Ore., helped Wright State to a perfect 4-0 week defeating both Oakland and Cansius back-to-back.
Sambula notched Pitcher of the Week honors for the third time in his career and second this season after his performance in Cincinnati. He allowed nine hits, but struck out six and took the bearcats into extra innings.
The left-hander, a native of Novelty, Ohio, pitched nearly eight full scoreless innings for the Vikings.
Cleveland State went 0-3 against Cincinnati but will look to pick up wins over Marshall and Bowling Green next week. Wright State will look to extend its winning streak against Toledo and Southeast Missouri.
