INDIANAPOLIS – Detroit sophomore guard Dominique Dixon has been named Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 13.
Dixon received the honor after pouring in a career-high 20 points on Saturday, helping Detroit defeat Big Ten foe Michigan, 67-48, in the Titans’ only game last week.
The Detroit native set career-highs with seven field goals and four three-pointers and also tied her career-high pulling down five rebounds against the in-state rival Wolverines.
Dixon also added a block and an assist while helping the Titans hold the Wolverines to season-low 30 percent shooting from the field and 20 percent from behind the arc.
The last time UDM defeated the Wolverines was on Jan. 9, 1994, when current Detroit head coach Autumn Rademacher led the Titans, as a freshman, to a 79-69 victory.
Detroit will take a week off for the holidays but will return to action on December 27 as the Titans host Marygrove in a 5pm ET tipoff.
