INDIANAPOLIS -- Detroit sophomore Brianne Cohen (Toronto, Ont.) is the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week while Cleveland State’s Ashanti Abshaw (Cleveland Heights, Ohio) is the Freshman of the Week for the week of Feb. 1-7.

Detroit captured two road wins last week in Northeast Ohio starting with a 66-60 victory over Cleveland State. The Titans led a majority of the contest with their largest lead of 15 points coming in the third quarter. In an exciting matchup at the Beeghly Center on Saturday, Haleigh Ristovski hit the game-winning shot with just 1.6 seconds remaining to take the 69-68 win. Detroit was down three points with a minute left in the game but scored the final four off of a layup and a forced turnover.The Titans are now 5-1 in Horizon League road contests this year.

Cohen tied her career-high of 21-points in both contests as she help lead Detroit to its 2-0 week. The sophomore went 16-for-20 (.800) from the field, including 7-of-8 in the Titan’s win at Youngstown State. In addition to her scoring efforts, Cohen averaged 6.5 rpg and 1.0 bpg during her 54 minutes on the court.

Despite Cleveland State’s loss to Detroit, the team saw four student-athletes score in double figures. The squad bounced back on Saturday as it took overtime to seal the 88-75 win over Oakland at home. The Vikings dominated overtime outscoring the Golden Grizzlies 17-4 in the frame after scoring five-straight to kick off the extra time.

Abshaw notched her sixth double-double of the season against Oakland with 24 points and 17 rebounds in the overtime victory. The 17 rebounds marked a career-high while also tying a career-high with six steals in the matchup. For the week, Abshaw averaged 18.0 ppg, 12.0 rpg, 2.0 apg and 5.5 spg in her 73 minutes on the court. In addition, freshman has already tallied five 20-point performances this season for the Vikings.

Detroit welcomes UIC on Thursday, February 11 for a 11:00 a.m. ET start time while Cleveland State takes the road that day to face Milwaukee at Noon ET. On Saturday, the Titans host Valparaiso at Noon ET while the Vikings face Green Bay at 2:00 p.m. ET. All games will be streamed live on ESPN3.

Top Players of the Week:
Tesha Buck, Green Bay (Jr., G): Finished with 23 points, five rebounds, two assists and three steals in win over Milwaukee and now has 917 points in her Phoenix career.
Sarah Cash, Youngstown State (So., F): Posted two double-doubles with a game-high of 22 points plus a career-high of 11 rebounds facing Oakland. In addition scored 13 points and a game-high 11 rebounds against Detroit.
Kim Demmings, Wright State (Sr., G): Recorded 35 points, five rebounds and four assists at UIC in addition to 17 points and five rebounds against Valparaiso.
Kendyl Nunn, UIC (Jr., G): Came off the bench to score 34 points against Wright State and tabbed 18 points versus Northern Kentucky. Went 13-of-22 (.591) from beyond the arc in the two contests.
Christine Roush, Northern Kentucky (Sr., G): Led the Norse in scoring in back-to-back contests with 18 points at UIC and 19 against Valparaiso.
Olivia Voskuhl, Cleveland State (So., F): Notched back-to-back double digit games with 14 points against Detroit and 17 versus Oakland. tallied her second double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds facing the Golden Grizzlies.

Top Freshmen of the Week:
Brittany Byrd, UIC (G): Scored a career-high 15 points while going 4-for-6 from three-point range against Northern Kentucky.
Molly Glick, Northern Kentucky (F): Set a new career-high in scoring with 15 points in win over UIC and followed-up it up with eight at Valparaiso to average 11.5 ppg.
Brittney Jackson, Detroit (G): Recorded 11 points at Youngstown State to mark her fifth double-digit scoring outing of the season while going 3-of-7 from beyond the arc.
Emily Vogelpohl, Wright State (G): Tallied 11 points, seven assists, two rebounds and two steals facing UIC on top of eight points, seven assists, seven rebounds and two steals at Valparaiso.
