All-Ohio Championships Preview
Cleveland State and Wright State are scheduled to compete in the All-Ohio Championship on Friday, October 4. The men’s collegiate race is set for 2:00 p.m. ET at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course, with the women set to follow at 2:45 p.m. ET.

Cleveland State
Last time out the Vikings ran their first 6K of the season, placing third at the Friendship Invitational. Junior Tori Holt (23:27), sophomore Amanda Kalain (27:24) and sophomore Ashley Lydic (25:37) all posted career-best 6K times at the Friendship Invitational, while Holt's 6K time also landed her fifth all-time on the Cleveland State top performances list.
Wright State
Wright State also competed at the Friendship Invitational. Both the men and women placed fourth in the eleven team field. On the men’s side, senior Dan Shafer led the Raiders with a top-ten finish, placing ninth with an 8K time of 26:16.89. Junior Matt Peters was close behind Shafter, finishing in 11th place with a time of 26:19.76.
The Raider women were led by senior Rachel Janson’s 20th place finish. Janson ran the 6K course in a time of 24:09.39. Janson was followed by two of her teammates; Alexandra Brown and Jessica Doepker. The freshman duo finished in 24:17.02 and 24:23.77, respectively.
Notre Dame Invitational
Green Bay, Oakland, UIC, Valparaiso, and Youngstown State are scheduled to participate in the Notre Dame Invitational. The field includes 21 women’s teams and 16 men’s teams. The Division I women’s gold race is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. ET, followed by the Division I men’s gold race at 2:45 p.m. ET.
Green Bay
The Phoenix last competed on Sept. 28 at the College of DuPage Invite.
The women finished in third-place and the men finished in fifth-place. Sophomore Sarah Mauel led the women with a fifth-place finish, completing the 5K course in a time of 19:07.
Sophomore Dalton Woodsworth led a pack of Phoenix men, as four Green Bay runners crossed the finish line within 30 seconds of one another.
Oakland
After two-weeks off, the Grizzlies are back in action at the Notre Dame Invitational.
Freshman Sammy Mondry has finished in first for Oakland in each of the Grizzlies three races. In the first race of her collegiate career, Mondry was narrowly beat out by Louisa Coppola (Detroit) for top honors at the Golden Grizzly Invitational.
On the men’s side, sophomore Michael Cox continues to post impressive times for the Grizzlies. The sophomore has led the team in two of its first three races, including a top ten-finish at the Grizzlies last outing in Canada.
UIC
When the Flames competed last, the duo of Tess Ehrhardt and Photis Karkalis swept the Horizon League Runner of the Week honors.
Ehrhardt finished in first-place while Karkalis took third-place at the College of DuPage Invite on Sept. 28. The UIC women finished in first place and the men took home second place.
The Flames last participated in the Notre Dame Invitational in 2011. Junior Tess Ehrhardt was a first-year student and piloted her team to a 17th place finish with a time of 18:43.
That same year, the men’s squad took home 11th place in the five-mile race with the help of senior Arash Darbandi.
Valparaiso
The Crusader’s are coming off a two week break, with their last race taking place at the Iona Meet of Champions. Junor Jessica Richardson led the Crusaders to a 12th place finish. The junior plotted the course in a 6K time of 23:29.84, good for 18th place.
For her efforts, Richardson was named Horizon League Runner of the Week, the third time in her career she’s earned the honor.
For the men, junior David Rutkowski led the Crusaders with an 8K time of 28:17.6. The men finished in 20th place.
Youngstown State
After a long, three week break, the Penguins are back in action today.
The last time the women competed senior Samantha Hamilton coasted to a 16-second win at the Bowling Green Mel Brodt Cross Country Collegiate, earning her her first Horizon League Runner of the Week honor. Her 5K time of 16:52.67 bested a field of 86 runners.
For the men, sophomore Austin McLean led the Penguins with an 8K time of 25:43.19, good for sixth place.
Greater Louisville Classic
The Greater Louisville Classic – hosted by the Louisville Sports Commission – will be held at E.P. 'Tom' Sawyer Park with the men's race starting at 9:30 a.m. ET, and the women's scheduled for 11:30 a.m. ET. Detroit and Milwaukee are slated to participate in the event.
There are 52 teams scheduled to participate in the women’s race, and 33 teams scheduled to participate in the men’s race.
Detroit
On the men’s side, senior Martin Nelkie had led Detroit the last two years at the Greater Louisville Classic, earning 54th place in 2012 with a time of 25:54.
For the women, senior Louisa Coppola holds the best time by a Detroit harrier at Louisville with a time of 19:06, good for 76th place. Detroit's best finish was fourth tallying 128 points in 2007.
The Titans were last in action two weeks ago when the men put six runners in the top 50 for fifth place. One of those runners, Nelkie, earned the Horizon League Runner of the Week. On the women's side, five Titan's posted sub-20 times to take eighth place at the 34th Annual National Catholic Championships.

Milwaukee
Freshman Ally Anich broke the course record at the Falcon Invitational in her very first collegiate meet. The newcomer posted a time of 21:44, more than 40 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Anich was not alone as Milwaukee's top-five finishers all placed 11th or better.
Last week, Milwaukee came in second overall on the women's side and third on the men's side out of 25 teams at the College of DuPage Invite. Anich again led the way for the women, taking second overall.
On the men's side, senior Sam Leschisin was the top Panther finisher at 11th overall, with sophomore Tony Sustachek (12th) and junior Joseph Morgan (14th) right behind.
