No. 5 Detroit pulled off the first "upset" of the day as it defeated No. 4 Loyola in the first round of the Horizon League tournament on Thursday at a blustery cold Ashwaubenon Sports Complex.
The Titans jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a Michelle Baggio two-run home run. Detroit would extend its lead to 4-0 in the top of the fifth inning on a Kari Messina RBI single to right field.
The Ramblers would score a run in the bottom of the fifth, but Anna Ollgaard would shut out Loyola the rest of the way as she scattered six hits and fanned five in seven innings from the circle.
