In the biggest upset of the day, No. 5 Detroit picked up an impressive 7-4 victory over No. 1 UIC in the second round of the winner's bracket on Thursday at the Ashwaubenon Sports Complex in Green Bay, Wis.
The Flames came out of the gates early and grabbed a 3-0 lead at the end of the first inning. After the Titans pulled to within two at 3-1, they exploded for six runs in the top of the fourth inning, including a Michelle Baggio three-RBI double to left field that started the rally. With Detroit leading by four in the bottom of the seventh, the Flames could only manage one run in the final frame as the Titans picked up the 7-4 victory.
Anna Ollgaard went the distance for the second game in a row as she scattered nine UIC hits while striking out just one Flame batter.
