INDIANAPOLIS - Loyola junior Dylan Gergen and Butler junior Marcella Moreman have been named Horizon League Golfers of the Week for the period of March 17-23. Gergen receives his second award this season, while Moreman picks up her first honor.
Gergen, a native of St. Paul, Minn., finished first out of 50 individuals with a 70 on Tuesday at the Butler Spring Invitational in Avon, Ind. The Ramblers (292) also won the 10-team men's event, which was shortened to just one round due to rain.
Gergen has now registered a top-13 performance in five of Loyola's eight meets this school year.
Moreman, a native of Greenwood, Ind., placed second out of 56 golfers with a career-low 75 on Tuesday at the Butler Spring Invite. The Bulldogs (311) also won the 10-team women's event.
Moreman's score was 11 strokes better than her season average and also led to a career-best finish.
