College Soccer News has named Green Bay men's soccer midfielder JC Banks (Milwaukee, Wis.) to its Preseason Second Team All-America.
Banks enters his senior year after having an impressive junior season. Banks became the first player in men's soccer history to be named the Horizon League Player of the Year. In addition Banks was named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Year and selected to the All-Tournament Team following Green Bay's first Horizon League Championship.
While starting all 20 games for the Phoenix, Banks led the Horizon League in goals (13), assists (10) and points (36). Known for his signature back flip, Banks was a Great Lakes Midwest All-Region second team selection, Top Drawer Soccer national second team selection and College Soccer News third team All-American.
The 2009 season was the most successful in program history for Green Bay and the Phoenix hope to build on that as they open its regular season Wednesday, Sept. 1 hosting DePaul at 7 p.m.
