INDIANAPOLIS -- Green Bay senior guard Carrington Love (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) has been named the Horizon League Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, while UIC freshman forward Dikembe Dixson (Freeport, Ill./Mingo Central (Delbarton, W. Va.) has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week.

Love scored a career-high 32 points in Green Bay’s opening night overtime loss at Stanford. The Milwaukee, Wis., native shot 9-of-17 from the field in the game as Green Bay built a 10-point first half lead and after falling behind late in the second half, rallied to force overtime. Love connected on 6-of-9 three-pointers in the game. The six three-pointers were also a career-high. His 32 points tied for the third-most in the NCAA on opening night and were the most by a Horizon League player in the opening weekend.

The senior guard added three rebounds, four assists and a game-high four steals versus the Cardinal.

The Player of the Week honor is the second of Love’s career.

Dixson took the opening Freshman of the Week honor this season. The Freeport, Ill., native led the Flames with a team-high 13 points in UIC’s 78-75 loss to San Francisco on Friday night. The freshman forward scored 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-4 from long distance. He also grabbed two rebounds, one steal and one block in the contest.

The 13 points were the most scored by a Horizon League Freshman last week.

UIC (0-1) looks to bounce back this week when it travels to Macomb, Ill., for a Tuesday night battle at Western Illinois.

Top Performers for the Week:
Austin Arians, Milwaukee (Jr., F) - Arians was named MVP of the Cable Car Classic after UWM went 3-0 to take the title. He averaged a team-best 15.3 points per game and connected on 12 three-point field goals. He also pulled down nine rebounds, four assists and had six steals in 99 minutes of action over the three days. He had 20 points, hitting six three-pointers on opening night in his first contest for the Panthers since the 2014 NCAA Tournament.
Bobby Hain, Youngstown State (Sr., F) - Hain posted his eighth career 20-point performance against Kent State on Saturday, finishing with 20 points on 50% shooting. He has posted 1,046 career points and remains the HL’s active career leading scorer.
Alec Peters, Valparaiso (Jr., F) - Peters had two efficient offensive performances last week. The junior scored 36 points on 16 field goal attempts as he averaged 18.0 ppg., in two Crusader wins. He scored a game-high 24 points (7-12 FG, 9-10 FT) and tied for the game-high with seven rebounds  in the win over IPFW on opening night and had 12 points (3-4 FG, 4-4 FT) in the win over Iona on Sunday, while again tying for game-high honors with seven rebounds.
Joe Thomasson, Wright State (Sr., G) - Thomasson scored 45 points and had 22 rebounds and 20 assists in three games as the Raiders opened the season in a tournament at Northern Illinois. He was consistent in his scoring as he went for 16, 14 and 15 points in WSU’s three games. He led the team in rebounding twice and assists in all three games.
Tyler White, Northern Kentucky (Sr., G) - White scored a team-high 17 points, while also grabbing four rebounds, passing out three assists and recording two steals in NKU’s season-opening loss at 23rd-ranked West Virginia.
Andre Yates, Cleveland State (Jr., G) - Yates scored 13 points and gathered a career-high nine rebounds in CSU’s season-opener versus Akron.

Top Freshmen for the Week:
Rob Edwards, Cleveland State (Fr., G) - Edwards had a strong debut for the Vikings, totaling eight points, five rebounds, four steals and one assists in 27 minutes of action off the bench.
Drew McDonald, Northern Kentucky (Fr., F/C) - McDonald scored eight points and pulled down three rebounds in first career action at 23rd-ranked West Virginia. He connected on 3-of-5 field goal attempts in 18 minutes of action.
Alan Vest, Wright State (Fr., G) - Vest scored eight points, passed out four assists and grabbed one rebound in WSU’s season-opening tournament at Northern Illinois. He connected on 50% (2-of-4) of his three-point attempts this past weekend.
