INDIANAPOLIS -- University of Wisconsin-Green Bay senior Mike Schachtner and Valparaiso University senior Agnieszka Kulaga have been named U.S. Army Horizon League Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week ending Dec. 14, League commissioner Jonathan B. LeCrone announced Friday (Dec. 19).

Schachtner (Somerset, Wis./Somerset) led Green Bay with 14 points and seven rebounds per game in a 1-1 week. He scored a season-high 21 points against the University of Wisconsin Dec. 13 to move into eighth place on Green Bay's all-time scoring list with 1,395 career points. In addition, he was 13-of-13 from the free-throw line during the week and entered this week's action leading the nation at 98 percent (46-of-47).

He is a two-time ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American, earning third-team honors in 2007 and second-team last season. Schactner also has twice been named to the Horizon League Academic All-League Team and the Division I-AAA All-Scholar Team.

Kulaga (Tarnow, Poland/I Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace) averaged 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.5 steals in two games last week, including a 71-60 victory over 23rd-ranked Purdue University Dec. 10. She had 17 points and eight rebounds versus the Boilermakers and then added 12 points and four steals in an eight-point loss to eighth-ranked University of Notre Dame Dec. 13.
