INDIANAPOLIS - Cleveland State junior John Haley and sophomore Catrine Bjerrehus have been named Horizon League Tennis Players of the Week for the period of April 5-11.
Haley, a native of San Antonio, Texas, went 5-0 over the weekend. He posted wins at No. 6 singles against Horizon League foes Wright State (6-2, 6-0) and Butler (6-3, 6-4), and No. 5 singles versus Case Western (6-3, 6-2). Haley also paired with Rob Fox to register 9-7 (WSU) and 8-4 (BU) doubles wins. The CSU men are currently leading the League at 6-0.
Bjerrehus, a native of Aarhaus, Denmark, helped the Vikings improve to 6-1 in the League over the weekend with four No. 1 wins. She defeated Wright State (7-6, 6-1) on Saturday and Butler (7-5, 6-1) on Sunday. Bjerrehus also teamed with Charlotte Gibbons to pick up 8-2 (WSU) and 8-3 (BU) doubles victories.
CSU men and women continue League play this week when they head to Detroit on Saturday.
