Women’s Basketball Starts Season With 83-61 Win Over Niagara-- Box Score
The Youngstown State women's basketball team exploded for 21 points in the first six minutes and continued the impressive offensive performance for an 83-61 victory over Niagara in the 2014-15 season opener on Saturday morning at Beeghly Center.
The Penguins shot 50.8 percent for the game and made nine 3s while leading by double digits for the final 31 minutes. YSU led 45-27 at halftime, and the lead ballooned to as much as 25 in the second half. Read more
Green Bay Cruises to 94-66 Rout to Open Season-- Box Score
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Five players scored in double figures to open the season and the Green Bay women’s basketball team cruised to a 94-66 rout of Marquette on Saturday afternoon at the Al McGuire Center in Milwaukee.
The Phoenix (1-0) picked up its eighth consecutive win in season openers, after the Green Bay bench accounted for 52 points, led by freshman Allie LeClaire’s team-leading 15 points. LeClaire was one of five players in double figures for Green Bay, as the balanced attack was too much for Marquette (0-1) to overcome. Read more
Titans Breeze By Marygrove, 88-46, In Home Opener-- Box Score
DETROIT (11/16/2014) -- Eleven Titans scored and the defense shined as the University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team clobbered visiting Marygrove College, 88-46, in its home opener on Sunday at historic Calihan Hall.
The 42-point winning margin was the most by the Titans since the 2010-11 season, while the 46 points allowed was the fewest since beating Youngstown State at home, 62-48, during the 2012-13 campaign.
Freshman Darianne Seward led five players in double figures with 15 points, while also registering six rebounds and tying for the team lead with five assists. Sophomore Haleigh Ristovski netted 15 points with five boards, three steals and tied her career high with five assists and three blocks, and sophomore Minisha Frederick-Childress added 11 points, four rebounds and a pair of assists. Mingo's 30 Leads Women Past Lipscomb-- Box Score
Behind 30 points from Tay'ler Mingo, the Wright State women's basketball team pulled away in the second half for a 79-66 win at Lipscomb Sunday afternoon.
The Raiders trailed by seven midway through the first half before going on a 10-0 run, half of those coming from Mingo, to go up 23-20 with 5:27 remaining. The two teams then went back and forth before a jumper and three by Mingo in the final minute gave WSU a 33-30 halftime edge. Read more
