Jesse Scholtens

Hometown: Fairfield, Calif.

MediumScholtens (Fairfield, CA/Rodriguez) pitched the first perfect game in Raider history on Friday, March 11, as WSU won at Dayton 1-0. Retiring all 27 batters he faced, Scholten struck out 12 and never reached a three-ball count on any hitter as he threw a total of 101 pitches, 74 of those for strikes. Along with being named the league's Pitcher of the Week, Scholtens was one of seven National Players of the Week chosen by Collegiate Baseball.


Youngstown State

Nico Padovan

Hometown: San Pedro, Calif.

MediumPadovan batted .556 while hitting safely and scoring a run in all three games of YSU's series at Missouri. He singled and scored the winning run in YSU's 4-3 victory in game one of Saturday's doubleheader, and he singled and scored in another Penguins win in game two. He finished the weekend 5-of-9 at the plate with four runs scored, three walks and a stolen base.

Princess Gbadamossi

Hometown: Houston, Texas

MediumGbadamossi picked up her first win of the year at No. 3 singles, helping Cleveland State to a win over Akron in the first match at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.

Joe VanMeter

Hometown: Indianapolis

MediumVanMeter collected his 70th career win on Saturday, rolling to a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles. VanMeter is the seventh Viking all-time to reach the mark.


Valparaiso

Taylor Weissenhofer

Hometown: Orland Park, Ill.

MediumWeissenhofer went 2-0 for the Crusaders this past weekend with a five inning win over Santa Clara where the senior struck out 12 and surrendered just one hit. During this game she tied for the second-most strikeouts in her career and the second one-hitter of her career. Her second win came against DePaul where she went 5.1 innings giving up just one run to mark the program's first-ever win over DePaul.


Cleveland State

Erica McNew

Hometown: Canton, Mich.

MediumMcNew hit .857 (6-7) with a .909 on-base percentage and a 1.571 slugging percentage last weekend for Cleveland State. The senior scored two runs, hit two doubles, a home run and tallied three RBI in addition to drawing four walks. McNew had two hits in all three games and reached base safely seven straight times.


Green Bay

Gene Kiela III

Hometown: Plymouth, Wis.

MediumKiela III claimed the best finish for the Phoenix, finishing in a tie for third place at even-par at the Jackrabbit Invitational to claim Men's Co-Golfer of the Week honors. Kiela shot back-to-back 70’s in the first two rounds of the tournament, and was tied for the lead after 36 holes.


Northern Kentucky

Ryleigh Waltz

Hometown: Liberty, Ind.

MediumWaltz collected Women's Golfer of the Week honors after her third-place finish in the Benbow Invitational. The effort was her second top-3 and third top-5 finish in just eight events this year. Waltz leads the Norse with a 78.72 stroke average this season.


Detroit Mercy

Eric Macrow

Hometown: Kingston, Ontario

MediumMacrow shared Co-Golfer of the Week after tying for third place at the Jackrabbit Invitational last week. It is the first time in his career that he has won the HL's Player of the Week accolade. He carded a career-low 216 (76-70-70), shattering his previous low by six strokes. He also tallied back-to-back 2-under 70's in the final two rounds to establish a new career mark for a round.
