INDIANAPOLIS – Nine Horizon League cross country teams and Butler’s Katie Clark were honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association this week for its team and individual All-Academic honors.
Clark, a sophomore Criminology and Psychology major and two-time Horizon League cross country athlete of the year, earned individual recognition by the USTFCCCA for her academic success. She holds a 3.938 grade point average and earned All-Region honors at the 2010 Great Lakes Regional Meet.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic team the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have either earned USTFCCCA All-America status or finished in the NCAA region’s top 15 in 2010.
Butler, Loyola, Detroit and UIC’s men’s cross country teams each earned All-Academic status.
On the women’s side, Butler, Cleveland State, Loyola, Detroit and Milwaukee’s programs were recognized with USTFCCCA All- Academic honors.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five individuals at their respective NCAA regional championship.
