INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Youngstown State freshman sprinter Jerrill Hall and Milwaukee junior multi-event athlete Jenni Saarinen were selected Horizon League men's and women's track Athletes of the Week based on their performances this past weekend.
Male Athlete of the Week
Jerrill Hall
Youngstown State
Fr., Maple Heights, Ohio
Hall won the 55-meter hurdles and the high jump with personal-best marks at the Baldwin-Wallace Mid-January Meet in Berea, Ohio. His time of 7.95 in the hurdles ranks third in YSU history, and his performance of 6 feet, 4 inches in the high jump puts him fourth all-time. He ranks third in the League this season in the high jump and fourth in the hurdles.
Female Athlete of the Week
Jenni Saarinen
Milwaukee
Jr., Lappeenranta, Finland
Saarinen won the pentathlon at the Wisconsin Elite Invitational in Madison, Wis. this past Saturday and took fourth in the long jump (17 feet, 9.75 inches). The UWM junior scored 3,632 points to edge the second place finisher by 197 points. Saarinen's score in the pentathlon was just 68 points shy of her own school record.

Fr., Wickham, U.K.
Davies recorded a lifetime best of 8:24.26 in the 3,000-meter run while competing at the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. Davies finished the event in sixth place.
Andrew Hayner
Detroit
Sr., Royal Oak, Mich.
Hayner ran the fifth-fastest 3,000 meter time in Titan history this past Saturday while competing at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. The UDM senior clocked a mark of 8:45.73 to finish eighth.
Quinn Mongoven
Milwaukee
So., Twin, Lakes, Wis.
Mongoven took second in the high jump at the Wisconsin Elite Invitational in Madison, Wis. this past Saturday. The UWM sophomore cleared a height of 6 feet, 10.25 inches. Mongoven's performance in the event is a personal best and the third-best performance in school history.
Ezekiel Sayon
UIC
Fr., Rockford, Ill.
Sayon made his debut with the UIC men's track and field team this past weekend at the Wisconsin Elite Invitational. The UIC freshman won the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.00 seconds and also posted a ninth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.43 seconds.
Jim Turchyn
Valparaiso
Jr., Batesville, Ind.
Turchyn posted two top five finishes this past Saturday at the Findlay Classic in Findlay, Ohio. The junior Crusader outpaced a field of 38 other runners in the 3,000-meter run as he broke the tape in 8:47.17. Turchyn also placed fourth in the mile with a time of 4:19.81.

Shiell ran a career-best time of 10:00.88 and placed sixth in the 3,000 meter run at the Gladstein Invitational in Bloomington, Ind. this past Saturday.
Valesha Turner

Sr., Detroit, Mich.
Turner placed sixth in the weight throw while competing at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Titan senior set a personal-record with a mark of 50 feet, 0.75 inches in the event to become just the ninth Titan to go over 50 feet.
Monique Bostert
UIC
So., Glendale Heights, Ill.
Bostert set the UIC school indoor record this past Saturday in the weight throw, while competing in the Wisconsin Elite Invitational in Madison, Wis. The UIC sophomore placed ninth in the event with a toss of 50 feet, 10 inches.
Melanie Wilson
Valparaiso
Sr., St. Louis, Mo.
Registered three top-five finishes at the Findlay Classic in Findlay, Ohio. Placed second in the triple jump (35 feet, 6.50 inches), third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.07) and fourth in the long jump (16 feet, 3.25 inches).
Danielle Curry

Fr., Thornville, Ohio
Curry won the shot put with a personal-best mark of 44 feet, 7.50 inches at the Baldwin-Wallace Mid-January Meet in Berea, Ohio. That mark ranks her first in the Horizon League according to Direct Athletics.
