Joblin Repeats, Sadovnikova Wins First Tennis Honor

INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State junior Hayden Joblin (Brooklyn, NZ) has repeated as the Horizon League men's tennis Player of the Week while Youngstown State junior Margarita Sadovnikova (Ufa, Russia) earned her first weekly honor on the women's side.

Joblin led the Raiders to a 2-0 week, opening Horizon League action with a 4-3 win over UIC and a 7-0 sweep of Valparaiso.

The junior from New Zealand won 7-6, 7-5 at No. 1 singles and 8-5 at No. 1 doubles against the Flames. Against the Crusaders, Joblin won 6-3, 7-6 at No. 1 singles and 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. In both No. 1 doubles matches, he paired with Jamison Clark.

Joblin and Wright State return to action on Saturday at Detroit.

Sadovnikova also helped her team to a 2-0 week as the Penguins won 6-1 against Oakland and 4-3 in their Horizon League opener against Detroit. It was the first YSU victory over the Titans in six years and the first time the Penguins opened the Horizon League season with a win since 2009.

The junior from Russia picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles and an 8-3 win a No. 1 doubles against Oakland. She also won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles against Detroit and 8-3 at No. 1 doubles. In both No. 1 doubles wins, Sadovnikova teamed with Marta Burak.

Youngstown State will return to action on Friday in a non-conference matchup at Duquense before returning to Horizon League action on Saturday against Cleveland State.
