CHICAGO- Goalkeeper Jovan Bubonja (Belgrade, Serbia/VI Belgrade) of the UIC men's soccer team was named to the College Soccer News Team of the Decade.

Bubonja earned Team of the Decade Third Team honors from the national website as one of the three best goalkeepers in the last 10 seasons.

"For Jovan to get this recognition shows the type of outstanding career he put together for the UIC men's soccer program," said UIC head coach John Trask. "Jovan's accomplishments have allowed him to receive an invitation to the MLS Combine this coming weekend, and we all wish him the best in his professional career."

A four-year letterwinner from 2006-2009, Bubonja completed his collegiate career as the most decorated player in UIC men's soccer history. He guided the Flames to unprecedented success during his four seasons, with three straight NCAA tournament berths, two Sweet 16 appearances and a trip to the 2007 Elite Eight among UIC's major accomplishments during his tenure.

Bubonja was a two-time Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy Watch List honoree and a 2008 semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy, awarded to the nation's top collegiate player.

An NSCAA/adidas All-Great Lakes First Team and All-Horizon League First Team keeper for three consecutive seasons, Bubonja earned unanimous First Team All-American accolades in 2008.

Bubonja posted a 0.65 goals-against average in 84 career contests for the Flames, making 243 saves and posting a record of 42-17-23. He recorded 39 shutouts during that span, including double-digit clean sheets in three straight seasons.

As a freshman Bubonja posted the nation's fourth-best goals-against average (0.37) and led the nation's top-ranked defense as UIC recorded the fourth-best team goals-against average in NCAA history.

Bubonja earned Second Team All-America honors from College Soccer News as a sophomore in 2007, a year in which he led the Flames to the Horizon League tournament title and a historic journey to the NCAA quarterfinals.

As a junior he garnered First Team All-America honors from both NSCAA/adidas and College Soccer News, joining Baggio Husidic as the first First Team All-Americans in program history, and guided UIC to a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Sweet 16.

A two-time Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year, Bubonja holds school records for career shutouts, career goals-against average, career wins, single-season goals-against average and single-season shutouts.

Bubonja, who is rated as Major League Soccer's top goalkeeping prospect by ESPN Soccernet, ventures to the MLS Combine this weekend.
