Loyola 1, Green Bay 0
Cleveland State 0, Valparaiso 0 (2OT)
UIC 3, Drake 1

INDIANAPOLIS – Loyola notched a key Horizon League win while Cleveland State and Valparaiso drew on Saturday night. In non-conference play, UIC went to Des Moines and knocked off Drake.

Loyola 1, Green Bay 0
Returning home, Loyola collected its first Horizon League win of the year, shutting out Green Bay, 1-0, at the Loyola Soccer Park.

Loyola (2-7-2, 1-1-2 Horizon) earned an important conference win, moving into the top six in the conference, putting the Ramblers in position to earn a berth in the League Tournament with three weeks left in the regular season.

Jake Savino’s early goal held up for the Ramblers, with the freshman scoring in the third minute of play. Savino’s third goal of the year was an unassisted tally, but he had help throughout the night from the back line, led by Peter McKeown.

McKeown made four saves in collecting the shutout, his third of the year. Green Bay (2-8-3, 0-3-2 Horizon) had three saves from Ryan Wehking in the defeat.

Cleveland State 0, Valparaiso 0 (2OT)
In a taut, physical affair, two senior goalkeepers stood out, sending Cleveland State and Valparaiso to a 0-0 draw at Brown Field.

Cleveland State (6-5-2, 1-1-1 Horizon) was whistled for 27 fouls in the match, while Valparaiso (1-6-5, 0-1-3 Horizon) committed 22.

The Crusaders outshot the Vikings, 17-9, but Cleveland State put six shots on goals compared to Valpo’s three. Three of Kyle Zobeck’s saves came in the two overtime sessions, but the senior hung on to record his third save of the season.

Across the field, CSU’s Kyle Zobeck stopped all three shots he faced, notching his League-leading sixth save of the year.

UIC 3, Drake 1
Tied with 38 minutes to play, UIC scored two late goals to roll past Drake, 3-1, in Des Moines.

UIC (6-5-2) improved to 5-1-1 over its last seven matches, bouncing back after Drake (4-8-3) tied the match in the 52nd minute, just 5:25 after Zach Kaleta’s second goal of the year had given the Flames a 1-0 advantage.

Kaleta’s goal was assisted by Jorge Alvarez, who sent a ball into the box, where Kaleta slipped a shot into the corner to beat the keeper.

Tied at 1 after a Drake penalty kick, Slobodan Aleksov struck the game-winning goal with 15:17 to play. The senior’s shot from the top of the box came through a scrum and found the back of the net. The goal was Aleksov’s third in two matches after not having a goal on the year entering the week.

Ivan Stanisavljevic put the match away in the 85th minute, taking a touch pass from Jesus Torres and potting his sixth goal of the year.
