MILWAUKEE - Blake Schilb poured in a career-high 39 points as Loyola claimed an87-81 overtime victory over the University of Illinois at Chicago Friday nightin a second round game at the U.S. Cellular Arena.
DaJuan Gouard added 19 points for the Ramblers (13-16), who are in thesemifinals of the league tournament for the first time since 2002.Fourth-seeded Loyola has now won a season-best six-straight games and advancesto a semifinal contest with top-seed UW-Milwaukee Saturday at 7 p.m.
Cedrick Banks led fifth-seeded UIC (15-14) with 22 points, though he made just7-of-29 shots from the field.
UIC led 34-26 at halftime and expanded the lead to nine early in the secondhalf. But the Ramblers quickly ran off 12 of the next 14 points and then led byas many as seven with just over two minutes remaining.
The Flames rallied to send the game to overtime on a Banks jumper with 13seconds remaining. The teams traded hoops early in overtime but two free throwsby Schilb with 39 seconds left gave Loyola a three-point lead and a dunk andfree throw by Schilb with eight seconds remaining sealed the victory.
