College Station, Texas - Loyola freshman runner Amanda Domich (Algonquin, Ill./Dundee Crown) capped an impressive inaugural campaign by earning Junior All-America honors after finishing fourth in the 5,000-meter run at the USA Junior National meet in College Station, Texas.
Domich earned All-Horizon League First Team honors in cross country after finishing fifth in the conference championship meet. In addition, she was Loyola's top finisher in each cross country event this season, including a 28th-place overall finish in the NCAA Midwest Regional meet, and was the Horizon League Indoor Track and Field champion in the 5K run.
"This performance caps off a terrific freshman year for Amanda," said head coach Marc Burns. "She was first team All-Horizon League in cross country, the Horizon League Indoor 5K champion and now a Junior All-American. She closed the last 200m of the race in a blazing 34 seconds, flying past two women down the stretch in what has become her trademark kick. Our women's program is going to continue to improve each year and Amanda will be a huge part of that success."
