Indianapolis - Loyola's Colleen Donovan and Danny Docherty have been named Horizon League Cross Country Athletes of the Week, the league office announced Monday. Donovan and Docherty each placed first overall as both Rambler teams won the DePaul Opener in Lincolnwood, Ill., Friday, Aug. 29.

Donovan, a junior from Hawthorn Woods, Ill., clocked a 4K time of 14:43.90 to win the women's race. Loyola placed four runners in the race's top 10 finishers, including senior Genevieve Binnie, who placed second just six seconds behind Donovan.

Loyola won the seven-team event with 28 points. Northwestern (50) and host DePaul (67) were second and third, respectively. In all, 69 athletes competed in the race.

Docherty, a St. Paul, Minn., native making his collegiate debut, registered a first-place time of 20:49.42 in the 4-mile men's race. He finished just 0.94 seconds ahead of teammate Ben Reifenberg as the Rambler men captured four of the race's top nine spots.

Loyola won the team event with 33 points, out-running UIC (48) and host DePaul (53). Sixty-two athletes competed in the meet.

The Loyola cross country teams travel to the Crusader Invitational in Valparaiso, Ind., Friday, Sept. 5. The race starts at 6 p.m.
