INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State University junior Casey McGrew and Cleveland State University senior Josh Hungerman have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of March 9-15.
A native of Delaware, Ohio, McGrew picks up Batter of the Week accolades after going 11-for-19 with five doubles, one triple, two homers, 11 RBI, five walks and no strikeouts in five games last week.
McGrew extended his hitting streak to nine by recording at least one base knock in all five of WSU's tilts. He recorded on-base streaks of six and eight plate appearances during the stretch.
The outfielder collected four multi-RBI games and three multi-hit contests. He also smacked a walk-off, two-run homer in game one of Saturday's doubleheader against Eastern Michigan University.
Wright State improved to 6-11 on the season with a 3-2 week. The Raiders picked up one win over Oakland University on Friday and two victories over Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Hungerman notches Pitcher of the Week honors after firing a two-hit, complete-game shutout on Friday at La Salle University.
The left-hander struck out 11 while walking just four in CSU's 2-0 win over the Explorers.
Cleveland State moved to 3-9 on the campaign with a 1-2 week. After the La Salle win, the Vikings suffered a 12-5 setback to Villanova University on Saturday and 5-1 loss to Temple University on Sunday.
Wright State has five home games on its schedule this week. The Raiders entertain Miami University on Tuesday (6:30 p.m. ET) and Xavier University on Wednesday (6:30 p.m.) before opening League play against Youngstown State University on Friday (6:30 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m. DH).
Cleveland State is scheduled to play at Duquesne University on Tuesday (3 p.m.) before kicking off its conference slate at the University of Illinois at Chicago on Friday (4 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m. DH).
