Men's Tennis Player of the Week
James Low, Butler, Sophomore, Ottawa, Ontario
Low posted a 3-0 record in the Bulldogs' weekend action, including a three-set win at No. 1 singles against visiting Western Michigan Saturday afternoon. Low defeated the Broncos' Tommy Dennis, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Low teamed with Parker Ross for a 9-8 (5) win at No. 2 doubles against Western Michigan and paired up with Andy Bartish later in the afternoon to beat DePauw's top doubles team, 8-3, in the Bulldogs' victory.
Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Iris Jaklin, UIC, Junior, Fischbach, Austria
Jaklin continued to shine at the top spot for the Flames, handily defeating UW-Milwaukee's Tammie Spiel in flawless straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 singles while teaming with Melanie Humphrey for an 8-1 No. 1 doubles victory over Spiel and Margie Van Lieshout.
Women's Other Top Performers
Alaina Griffin, Butler, Junior, Portland, Mich.
Griffin topped Illinois State's Liz Bingier, 6-3, 6-1, at the top singles spot Friday night in the Bulldogs' lone action of the week. Griffin scored the Bulldogs only point in the 6-1 loss. Griffin is now 5-5 on the spring at No. 1 singles.
Gina Peretti, Youngstown State, Sophomore, Poland, Ohio
Peretti went 2-0 this weekend at the Ball State Invitational to improve her No. 4 singles record to 4-1 this spring. Against Southern Illinois she beat Zoya Honarmand (6-7 (5), 7-6 (4), 6-3 and on Sunday she was a double winner against Ball State. She defeated Jennifer Pollack (6-1, 6-3) and also teamed with Heather Hagood for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles.
