MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee women's volleyball team has earned the 2007 Deep Digging Team of the Year award.
College Volleyball Update hands out the award to the team it considers to be the most efficient defensive team in the country.
The Panthers finished fifth in the nation in digs, averaging 20.25 digs per game. UWM also finished with a better than 58 percent efficiency in digging opponents' attacks.
UWM rode its strong defense to a fifth-straight Horizon League title and a school-record 26 wins. Individually, junior Becky Peters and sophomore Lauren Felsing each ranked in the top 10 in the league in digs while the Panthers topped the league in digs and opponent hitting percentage.
