Senior Laurie Bell enjoyed a breakthrough campaign a season ago and was rewarded with numerous postseason honors, including Horizon League Player of the Year and NSCAA All-American status in a season in which he ranked among the top 15 in the country in both points and goals.
Fast-forward to this preseason and the honors and accolades are starting to roll in for the Poynton, England product. The process started this week, as Bell was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list and a member of the Top Drawer Soccer Preseason First-Team Best XI.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in NCAA soccer presented annually to one male and one female athlete.
The 2014 watch lists were announced earlier today on NSCAATV.com on the "2014 NSCAA College Soccer Review Show," which also revealed the 2014 NSCAA/Continental Tire Preseason College Rankings for NCAA Division I men's and women's teams.
In fact, the Panthers received a pair of votes in the preseason Top 25 poll and are the only Horizon League school to be receiving votes.
