INDIANAPOLIS - Wright State freshman Evan Neuman and Green Bay senior Lauryn Grimando have been named Horizon League Tennis Players of the Week for the period of March 1-7.
Neuman, a native of Lima, Ohio helped Wright State go 2-0 over the weekend. He recorded a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles versus Toledo and 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles against Northwestern Ohio. Neuman also teamed with Landon Neuman to post an 8-5 win against Toledo, and 8-2 triumph over Northwestern Ohio at No. 3 doubles.
Grimando, a native of Oak Brook, Ill., earned victories in her only singles and doubles matches of the week. She was the only player for the Phoenix to win both her singles and doubles matches against the University of Northern Iowa. Grimando recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles and paired with Emily Lawent to notch an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles.
The Wright State men are set to host IUPUI on Sunday. The Green Bay women face Valparaiso on Saturday.
