Oakland's Felder and Green Bay's Sykes Named Finalists for Lou Henson POY Award

Green Bay's Keifer Sykes and Oakland's Kahlil Felder were named finalists for the 2015 Lou Henson award on Wednesday.

The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the Mid-Major player in division I college basketball. The finalists for the award also represent the Lou Henson All-America team.

Sykes, the two-time Horizon League Player of the Year recently completed his collegiate career with 2,096 points. As a senior, Sykes averaged 18.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and four assists per game while helping the Phoenix to a 24-9 overall record. He finished his career ranked second in program history in scoring and as the only player in Horizon League history to accumulate 2,000-plus points, 500-plus assists and 400-plus rebounds.

Felder led the Golden Grizzlies by scoring 18.1 points per game and finished second in the country with 7.6 assists per game. He recorded a career-best six double-doubles this season and scored a career-best 37 points in Oakland's postseason game versus Eastern Illinois. Felder led the league with 2.0 steals per game and reached 20 or more points in a league-best 14 games.

Felder is trying to become the second Oakland player to earn the Lou Henson Award. Former NBA Draft pick and Oakland standout Keith Benson was named the 2010 Lou Henson Award recipient after leading the Golden Grizzlies to a program-best 26-9 record and NCAA tournament berth.

The 2015 recipient will be announced at the CollegeInsider.com Awards Banquet on April 3 in Indianapolis, site of the 2015 men's NCAA Basketball Championship.
