Eight schools will compete in the 2009 Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday (May 1), Saturday (May 2) and Sunday (May 3). The 12th annual men's and women's event will take place at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill.
The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has claimed five consecutive men's titles, while Youngstown State University is the defending women's champion.
Three of four men's specialty award winners are back in 2009, while two of four women's honorees also return.
Milwaukee junior Tyler Bucholz earned Most Outstanding Male Runner accolades at the 2008 event, while Youngstown State sophomore Jerrill Hall and University of Detroit Mercy sophomore Earnest Cleary were named Men's Newcomers of the Year.
Youngstown State sophomore Breanne Romeo and junior Alisha Anthony were named Women's Newcomers of the Year a season ago.
Competition begins on Friday at 2 p.m. CT. The three-day event will wrap up with awards on Sunday at approximately 4 p.m.
