Horizon League Track & Field Athletes of the Week (Week 5)

Butler University junior Kris Gauson and Youngstown State University junior Aaron Merrill have been named Horizon League Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week, while University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee senior Holly Nearman and Youngstown State sophomore Danielle Curry have earned women's accolades for the period of April 20-26.
Gauson, a native of Edinburgh, Scotland, receives the Men's Running Events honor after posting a 1:48.66 in the 800 meter at the Oregon Relays in Eugene, Ore. The NCAA Regional qualifying time, which set a school record, ranks first in the Horizon League this season and sixth nationally.
Merrill, a native of Leetonia, Ohio, picks up the Men's Field Events award firing the shot put 17.70 meters at the St. Francis Red Flash Open in Loretto, Pa. The NCAA Regional qualifying mark, which set a school standard, ranks first in the Horizon League this season and 33rd nationally.
Nearman, a native of Monroe, Wis., receives the Women's Running Events honor after both of her relay teams set school records at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. She helped Milwaukee clock a 12:06.17 in the distance medley competition and a 20:44.79 in the 4x1600 meter event.
Curry, a native of Thornville, Ohio, picks up the Women's Field Events award after tossing the shot put 14.17 meters at the St. Francis Red Flash Open. Her Horizon League-best mark tied a school record and placed first in the event.
Nearman finishes the outdoor season with four weekly awards in five weeks, while Gauson and Curry were both two-time honorees.
