INDIANAPOLIS – Detroit senior Ja’Quan Patterson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and Valparaiso junior Sarah Drozdowski (Roselle, Ill.) have been named the Horizon League Indoor Field Athletes of the Week.

Patterson set personal records in both the long jump and the triple jump at the Blue and Gold Invitiational hosted by Notre Dame. He finished in second place in both events, posting a 6.94 m in the long jump and a 14.30m in the triple jump, tying Detroit All-American Paul Caraballo for the second-longest jump in school history.

The Titans senior also set a PR in the 60m at 7.21, finishing in fifth place.

Patterson and the Titans have the rest of year off and will return to action on Jan. 11 at the Central Michigan Invitational.

Drozdowski was Valparaiso’s lone competitor at the Redbird Open hosted by Illinois State. In the weight throw, she set a new season-best and finished fourth in a field of 16 throwers with a mark of 16.75m, a toss that ranks as the third-longest in school history.

The Crusaders junior also posted a toss of 12.22m in the shot put, finishing fifth out of 14 competitors.

Valpo returns to action on Jan. 11 at the Bob Eubanks Open, hosted by Grand Valley State.
