INDIANAPOLIS -- University of Wisconsin-Green Bay senior Rachel Porath has been named Horizon League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period of Feb. 2-8. The selection marks Porath's sixth career weekly honor from the League office and her second this season.
A native of Luxemburg, Wis., Porath averaged 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals in two games last week. The guard made 9-of-18 (.500) from the floor, 7-of-13 (.538) from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.
Porath was one of five Green Bay players to score at least 10 points in a 79-42 victory over Youngstown State University on Thursday. She then recorded 18 points, six rebounds and three steals in a 69-54 win over Cleveland State University on Saturday.
Porath has helped Green Bay to a 19-3 overall record and 11-0 Horizon League mark this season.
The Phoenix has outscored League opponents by nearly 20 points per contest (65.8 to 46.2) and all opponents by almost 15 points per outing (65.4 to 50.5). In addition, Green Bay has had only one conference game closer than 10 points.
Porath leads the League in three-point percentage (.450) and is tied for second in field-goal percentage (.548). She is averaging 10.4 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists through 22 games this season.
Green Bay puts its perfect League record on the line during a pair of road games this week. The Phoenix travels to Wright State University (10-12, 6-5) on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET and the University of Detroit Mercy (7-15, 3-8) on Saturday at 2 p.m.
