Two of the Horizon League's top offensive players have chances to cement their names in record books this weekend as Milwaukee's Sarah Hagen looks to become the all-time goals leader in Horizon League history. Meanwhile, Natalie Daniels can become Cleveland State's record-holder for goals and points in a season with a productive weekend.
Hagen enters Friday's match versus Valparaiso on a tear, having scored seven goals in her last five contests. After concluding a seven game road trip with a 4-2-1 mark, the Panthers return to the newly resurfaced Engelmann Field for the first time in 2010. Hagen, the three-time Horizon League Player of the Week in 2010, needs a lone goal to break a tie with former Milwaukee standout Lisa Kryzkowski, who set the Horizon League record with 57 career tallies.
Milwaukee (6-4-2, 2-0-0 Horizon) will meet Valparaiso in a Pink Out on Friday before hosting Butler (3-9-0, 1-1-0 Horizon) on Sunday.
Entering Friday, the Panthers sit one point behind Loyola (4-8-1, 2-1-0 Horizon) and a three-way tie for second with Cleveland State (6-5-2, 2-1-0 Horizon) and Wright State (5-7-0, 2-2-0), each of whom own two conference wins and six points.
Daniels will have her chance at the Cleveland State records on Friday, when the Vikings tangle with the Ramblers in Chicago. Currently the owner of Cleveland State career marks for goals (14), assists (11) and points (39), Daniels sits one goal shy of tying Jennifer Wieand's single-season Viking record of eight and two points shy of Wieand's mark of 19 points in a year.
Additionally, Cleveland State goalkeeper Kelly Zinkiewich matched her own school record with her fourth of the season in a 1-0 blanking of Youngstown State last week.
Daniels and Zinkiewich will chase the marks as the Vikings meet Loyola at 8 p.m. ET on Friday; Cleveland State will face off with Detroit on Sunday from Titan Field.
In Horizon League action on Friday, Detroit and Youngstown State will be live on the Horizon League Network, with coverage streaming at horizonleague.com beginning at 4 p.m. ET. Butler will travel to Green Bay for an 8 p.m. ET match, while Wright State hosts Longwood in a non-conference match. Fans can watch the Raiders live on HLN beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
On Sunday, Wright State will once again be on HLN, when they host Indiana State at 1 p.m. Four conference matches will take place as well, beginning with Cleveland State-Detroit at 12 p.m. ET. Butler will wrap up their Wisconsin road trip when they face off with Milwaukee in a 2 p.m. ET match. Loyola will host Youngstown State at 2 p.m. ET as well.
