INDIANAPOLIS—Wright State’s Clement Quilliec (Brest, France) and Youngstown State’s Viktoria Orosz (Budapest, Hungary) have been named Horizon League Men’s and Women’s Swimmers of the Week while Milwaukee’s K.J. Heger (Rockford, Ill.) and Youngstown State’s McKenzie Stelter (Wampum, Pa.) have been named Horizon League Men’s and Women’s Divers of the Week for the week of Oct. 15-20. This is the second-straight week that Heger has collected the award.
Quilliec and the Wright State men’s swimming and diving team took on UIC in a dual meet. The sophomore led the Raiders in the pool, breaking three pool records and winning four events during the meet. Quilliec broke the 100-breaststroke record with a time of 55.46 and was also a member of the 200 medley relay team that set the a pool record with a 1:33.54 finish. In addition, he won the 200-breaststroke in a record-breaking time of 2:02.99, just missing the pool record in the 200-individual medley in a time of 1:51.71.
Orosz competed in her first collegiate meet for Youngstown State against Niagara and won four events. The freshman set the school record in the 200-freestyle in a time of 1:52.73 and recorded the second-fastest 500-freestyle in school history with a time of 5:04.92. Orosz was also a member of the winning 200-medley relay (1:49.43) and 200-freestyle relay (1:39.41) teams.
Heger swept the boards for the second-straight week in a dual meet against Grand Valley State University. The senior won the one-meter with a score of 347.62 and was at the top of the leader board in the three-meter tallying 371.85 points. His scores on each board were NCAA Zone marks and also broke the GVSU Pool records.
Stelter collected NCAA Zone qualifying marks in her first collegiate meet in both the one-meter and three-meter. She won the one-meter with a score of 268.05 and was victorious on the three-meter board with 288.01 points. The freshman won the one-meter by almost six points and the three-meter by 49.
Milwaukee hits the water again October 25th at the All Wisconsin Meet in Brown Deer, Wis. while Youngstown State competes that same day in Cleveland, Ohio against the Vikings and Valparaiso.
