Indianapolis, Ind. -- With the 2007 NCAA women's soccer season now officially in the books, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has begun the task of handing out its numerous postseason honors. The procession started Friday (Dec. 14), with two Horizon League players recognized when the association announced its All-Great Lakes Region teams, sponsored by adidas.

Wright State University junior defender Jess Rooma earned a spot on the Second Team, while sophomore forward Cynthia Morote-Ariza represented Loyola University Chicago on the Third Team.

Rooma stepped up one level from her Third-Team status last fall after collecting six goals and two assists for 14 points while leading the Raiders to a 13-6-1 record. She provided veteran leadership in playing a key role on the Wright State defensive unit that posted a 0.83 goals-against average and nine shutouts. WSU set the program's single-season victory record in 2007.

Rooma was a First-Team All-Horizon League player for the third year in a row and could join an elite group next season. Only five players in League history have won four First-Team All-League honors.

Morote-Ariza was the Horizon League Player of the Year in 2007, becoming the first player in League history to top the circuit charts in goals (17), assists (nine) and points (43) in the same season. The sophomore forward eclipsed her own Rambler single-season records for goals and points, and is already the school's all-time leading scorer with 70 points in her career. Morote-Ariza was a Second-Team all-region selection in 2006.

Morote-Ariza also was tabbed as the Most Valuable Player of the Horizon League Championship after helping lead the Ramblers to their second consecutive League crown. The Ramblers finished second in the regular-season standings but won a penalty-kick shootout against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the second year in a row.

Three schools dominated the First Team, with Penn State University boasting four selections and Purdue University and the University of Notre Dame each claiming three. PSU sophomore goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher joined senior defender Denay Riley, junior midfielder Zoe bouchelle and sophomore forward Kthryn Schoepfer to form the Nittany Lion contingent, while senior defender Kira Bilecky, senior midfielder Shauna Stapleton and senior forward Parissa Eyorokon represented Purdue.

Notre Dame junior forward Kerri Hanks was the only repeat selection on the First Team and joined senior midfielder Amanda Cinalli and junior forward Brittany Bock to form the Fighting Irish trio. Indiana University sophomore defender Kelly Lawrence rounded out the First Team.
