INDIANAPOLIS -- Detroit guard Senee Shearer (Detroit, Mich.) has been named the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and Green Bay guard Tesha Buck (Red Wing, Minn.) has been named Freshman of the Week.
Shearer earned Player of the Week honors for the first time this season after tallying her 16th 20-plus scoring effort of the season with 23 points in UDM’s win over Valparaiso on Wednesday. She added 15 points, two rebounds and two assists in the win over Youngstown State on Saturday. She broke the school record for career three-pointers against YSU and now has 219 on her career.
For the week, she shot 54.2 percent from the field, including 7-of-14 from three-point range. She leads the Horizon League and ranks eighth in the nation with 85 three-pointers made on the season.
Buck won her fourth Freshman of the Week honor after leading the Phoenix in scoring in their two road wins last week. She recorded her first career double-double at Wright State, finishing with 16 points and 10 rebounds as the Phoenix won in overtime to claim sole possession of first place in the Horizon League. She added five assists and three steals in the outing. Buck grabbed a big rebound in the final seconds of overtime and hit both ensuing free throws to secure the GB win. In the win over Valpo, she led the Phoenix with 14 points, while also adding eight rebounds, four assists and four steals.
For the week, Buck averaged 15.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.5 steals per game.
Top Performers for the Week:
Ruvanna Campbell, UIC (So., F) - Campbell had 12 points and 10 rebounds at Youngstown State. She also collected three assists, three blocks and three steals. She scored 19 points and pulled down 17 rebounds at Cleveland State for her 20th double-double of the season. Had 13 points and 11 rebounds in the second half on the way to her 10th straight double-double. She finished the game 7-of-12 from the field.
Kiersten Green, Cleveland State (Jr., G) - Green tallied 12 points and eight rebounds at Oakland. She then posted a team-high 17 points and a team-high nine rebounds in the win over UIC on Saturday.
Ivory James, Wright State (Sr, G) - James averaged 21.0 points per game last week for the Raiders. She scored 20 points in WSU’s overtime loss to Green Bay and had 22 points - on 8-of-11 shooting - in GB’s win over Milwaukee on Saturday.
Sharon Karungi, Valparaiso (Jr., F) - Karungi averaged 15.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game last week for the Crusaders as she recorded two double-doubles. She shot 58.3 percent from the field in the two games.
Elena Popkey, Oakland (So., G) - Popkey recorded her third double-double of the season with 22 points and 12 rebounds in Oakland’s come-from-behind win over Cleveland State on Thursday.
Angela Rodriguez, Milwaukee (Sr., G) - Rodriguez led the Panthers with 19 points against Wright State. She continues to lead the Horizon League is assists and broke the UWM record for assists in a season against the Raiders with her 154th of the year.
Heidi Schlegel, Youngstown State (Jr., F) - Schlegel averaged 21.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game last week. She was 7-of-10 from the field, scoring 17 points and grabbing six rebounds vs. UIC. She scored all 25 of her points in the second half at Detroit on Saturday.

Nola Anderson, Oakland (Fr., G) - Anderson scored eight points, grabbed five rebounds, passed out two assists and had a steal in OU’s win over Cleveland State.
Megan Galloway, Detroit (Fr., F) - Galloway averaged 18.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game last week for the Titans as they went 2-0. She started the week by tying her season high with 21 points and grabbing 10 boards vs. Valpo. She finished with 16 points and 15 rebounds against Youngstown State.
Jenna Hirsch, Youngstown State (Fr., G) - Hirsch scored eight points and passed our four assists versus UIC on Thursday and had seven points and two rebounds at Detroit on Saturday.
Mehryn Kraker, Green Bay (Fr., F) - Kraker hit a key three-pointer with 21 seconds remaining in overtime to secure the GB win at Wright State. She led the Phoenix with 19 points while shooting 7-of-8 from the field.
Khayla Livingston, Cleveland State (Fr., G) - Livingston tallied 16 points, five rebounds, two assists and a steal at Oakland. She went 5-10 from the floor and 4-6 from three-point at Oakland
Bre’Zall Warren, Milwaukee (Fr., G) - Warren tied her career-high by scoring 17 points for the second time in six days against Wright State Saturday. She made 4-of-9 three-pointers and also grabbed 5 rebounds.
