INDIANAPOLIS -- The Horizon League, known to many for taking advantage of emerging technologies, is back at it again. Basketball fans can now get the "Daily Scoop" through an interactive media guide on the league's official web site.

Unlike a traditional media guide, the "Daily Scoop" includes up-to-date news, notes, schedules, rosters and statistics for all 10 Horizon League men's basketball programs.

The "Daily Scoop" features school-specific pages with recent Horizon League Network (HLN) videos. It also includes Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds and links to social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace.

The Horizon League, in partnership with Indianapolis-based MediaSauce, offers the Horizon League Network (www.horizonleaguenetwork.tv) as a premier destination for free, live video webcasts of league games and other video-on-demand features. Over 400 live events were shown on HLN in 2007-08.

In 2008-09, more than 250 men's and women's basketball games will be shown on HLN. Championship contests from the Horizon League men's soccer, women's soccer, volleyball, baseball, softball and other select tournaments will also be available free of charge.

Butler, Green Bay and Loyola open the men's basketball exhibition season with games on Saturday, Nov. 1. Detroit, LU, Milwaukee and UIC will then kick off the regular-season slate on Friday, Nov. 14.

Butler, which was nationally ranked for 19 consecutive weeks in 2007-08, is the defending Horizon League champion after winning a school-record 30 games and advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Cleveland State, which returns four starters from a 21-13 team, was picked No. 1 in the league's preseason poll after earning a berth in the 2007-08 Postseason NIT.
