UIC goalkeeper Andrew Putna and Wright State’s Jake Stovall and Peguy Ngatcha were selected in the 2017 Major League Soccer Superdraft. Putna, the Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year, was taken in the third round (48th overall) as was Stovall (66th overall). Ngatcha, the Horizon League Player and Offensive Player of the Year was chosen in the fourth round, No. 86 overall.

CHICAGO – UIC senior goalkeeper Andrew Putna has been selected with the 48th overall pick by Real Salt Lake in the third round of the 2017 Major League Soccer SuperDraft held on Tuesday (Jan. 17).

Two-time Horizon League Goalkeeper of the Year and All-League First Team honoree, Putna made a name for himself in his four seasons at UIC while helping the Flames to two regular season conference championships (2013, 2015) and one Horizon League Tournament title (2016) to span a career record of 41-24-8 with 30 shutouts. (WSU Athletic Media Relations) -- Seniors Jake Stovall and Peguy Ngatcha were among 37 players selected as the Major League Soccer SuperDraft concluded on Tuesday.  Stovall, a defender, was chosen by the Seattle Sounders, the reigning MLS Cup champions, in the third round while Ngatcha, a forward, was picked by the Colorado Rapids in the fourth round.

Stovall a First Team All-Horizon League honoree as well as a Second Team All-Ohio by the Ohio Soccer Coaches Association, was an important part of the Wright State defense this season that allowed just 20 goals overall for a 0.96 goals against average.  The defense was even more impressive in league play, giving up only two goals for a 0.21 goals against average.  The Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week on October 10, Stovall also chipped in three assists offensively, two coming against UIC and one versus Cleveland State.

Ngatcha (Manchester, NH/Kimball Union Academy) was a First Team All-Great Lakes Region selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, First Team All-Ohio, the Horizon League Player of Year as well as the league's Offensive Player of the Year.  He tied for the league lead with 10 goals and was second with 24 points.  The Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week on October 10, he scored two goals in wins over Cincinnati, UIC and Northern Kentucky, with his other four goals coming against Portland, Duquesne, Oakland and Detroit Mercy.  He also had four assists on the year versus Portland, North Carolina State, Cleveland State and Valparaiso.
