For the 12th consecutive season CollegeInsider.com is putting out a weekly poll of the top 25 mid-major teams. This year's preseason poll includes three Horizon League schools in the top 25 with four additional schools receiving votes.
Butler tops the poll with 16 of 31 total first place votes, narrowly edging out Gonzaga. Detroit, picked 2nd in the Horizon League preseason poll, comes in at 23rd with Cleveland State rounding out the poll at 25.
Others receiving votes included Milwaukee (29), Wright State (28), Valparaiso (13) and Green Bay (12).
That means 7 of the 10 Horizon League schools have garnered votes to be top 25 mid-major teams.
The voting panel consists of mid-major coaches from across the country. Butler head coach Brad Stevens represents the Horizon League this year.
