UIC's Addison, Valparaiso's Frane earn Baseball Player of the Week Accolades

INDIANAPOLIS – UIC sophomore Nick Addison and Valparaiso senior Justin Frane have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of April 11-17.
Addison picked up Batter of the Week accolades after going 8-for-12 (.667) with six RBIs and four runs to help UIC sweep Wright State and defeat Northwestern last week. He also registered a .750 slugging percentage and .667 on-base percentage for the Flames.

The outfielder, a native of Barrington, Ill., collected career-high five RBI against Wright State in game one of a doubleheader before recording career-high four hits in game two against the Raiders, batting .778 in the series.  He is currently on a seven-game hitting streak.

Frane notched Pitcher of the Week honors after helping the Crusaders to a 4-0 week defeating Chicago State on Tuesday before sweeping Youngstown State at home over the weekend.

The right-hander, a native of Huntertown, Ind., threw just 86 pitches in eight innings to get the win in the opener of the series against the Penguins allowing just five hits while striking out four.  The senior has allowed just three earned runs on the season and is carrying a 0.73 ERA and a .188 opponent BA in conference play.

Valparaiso will host Saint Francis (Ind.) today at a 4pm ET, while UIC will host Purdue on Wednesday at 8:05pm ET.
