INDIANAPOLIS -- UIC junior midfielder Slobodan Aleksov (Belgrade, Serbia) is the Horizon League Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Detroit sophomore goalkeeper Nathan Steinwascher (Sterling Heights, Mich.) and Milwaukee freshman keeper Connor Revsbeck (Lakeville, Minn.) have been named Co-Defensive Players of the Week for the week of Oct. 8-14. The award is the first of Aleksov’s and Revsbeck’s career, while Steinwascher is collecting the honor for the second time this season.

UIC (6-5-2, 2-1-1 Horizon) moved into second place in the Horizon League with a 3-1 win over Loyola to open the week before stepping into non-conference play and picking up a 3-1 road victory at Drake. Detroit (6-6-0, 3-0-0 Horizon) remained in first place in the conference with a 2-0 triumph at Wright State after a 1-0 setback at Michigan State. Milwaukee (6-4-2, 1-0-2 Horizon) won its lone match of the week, a 1-0 road win at Wisconsin.

Aleksov scored two goals in the first seven minutes of UIC’s win over its intra-city rival. The goals were the first two of his career with the first coming on a left-footed blast and the junior following up 90 seconds later with a finish off his right foot.

In the Flames’ road win at Drake, Aleksov netted the game-winner in the 75th minute, converting a strike from the top of the 18-yard box. The victory moved UIC to 5-1-1 over its last seven matches.

Steinwascher made 11 saves across the two matches, including six as the Titans collected a key road win at Wright State. The lone goal allowed by the sophomore came off a rebound with Detroit battling a man down to Michigan State. Steinwascher’s 56 saves are second in the Horizon League, while his three shutouts are tied for second.

Revsbeck made his first collegiate start a memorable one, tallying five saves in the Panther’s 1-0 victory at Wisconsin. The win was the first for Milwaukee over the Badgers since 2005, while Revsbeck became the first UWM keeper to record a shutout in his first career start since 2003.

UIC will head north for its lone match of the week, traveling to Green Bay for an 8 p.m. ET contest on Saturday, Oct. 20. Detroit will head to Kalamazoo, Mich., for a non-conference match on Wednesday, Oct. 17, before returning home to host Valparaiso on Sunday, Oct. 21. The Titans and Crusaders will kick off at 3 p.m. ET.  Milwaukee will host Nebraska-Omaha on Tuesday, Oct. 16, live on the Horizon League Network beginning at 4 p.m. ET. The Panthers will head to Cleveland State on Saturday, Oct. 20, with HLN carrying the match live at 7 p.m. ET
