INDIANAPOLIS – UIC senior Jason Ganek and junior Matt Heaslip have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of Feb. 28-March 6.Ganek picked up Batter of the Week accolades after going 7-for-15 (.467) with five RBIs and two runs in a three game series with Missouri. He also registered a .667 slugging percentage and .467 on-base percentage for the Flames.
The infielder, a native of Mt. Prospect, Ill., led UIC in batting average, extra-base hits and RBI with at least one RBI in each game last week.
Heaslip notched Pitcher of the Week honors for the first time after picking up his first win for the Flames, over Missouri, and threw 113 pitches in the game.
The right-hander, a native of Rockford, Ill., also struck out three and only allowed seven hits for the Tigers.
UIC will play a three-game series with Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee next weekend, starting at 5pm ET on Friday.
