Green Bay 1, Wright State 1 (2OT)
Valparaiso 2, Cleveland State 1

INDIANAPOLIS – It was a successful night for road teams in the Horizon League, as Valparaiso opened conference play with a win and Green Bay snagged a point with a draw.

Green Bay 1, Wright State 1 (2OT)
Wright State dominated possession, but Green Bay’s defense held stout over 110 minutes as the Raiders and Phoenix played to a 1-1 draw at Alumni Field.

Wright State (6-2-4, 1-0-1 Horizon) stayed unbeaten in Horizon League play while Green Bay (3-6-1, 0-1-1 Horizon) collected its first point of conference action.

The Raiders held a 22-7 advantage in shots, but trailed late in the match after Ahna Logan converted a pass from Megan Braatz to give Green Bay a 1-0 lead with 25 minutes to play in regulation.

Ashley Miltko would score the equalizer in the 86th minute after a Wright State corner kick, her fourth goal of the season.

The Raiders had opportunities throughout as they finished with a 22-7 shot advantage, including 7-1 in the two overtime periods, but could not come up with another goal.

Green Bay goalkeeper Katy Pilarzyk had eight saves on the night, her most critical coming with five minutes remaining in the first overtime period as Wright State's Ini Umotong fired a shot from point-blank range.

Valparaiso 2, Cleveland State 1
Jumping out to a quick 2-0 lead, Valparaiso hung on in the second half to open its Horizon League season with a 2-1 victory at Cleveland State.

Valparaiso (7-3-1, 1-0-0 Horizon) made the most of its four shots on goal, beating Cleveland State (3-8-0, 0-2-0 Horizon) keeper Becca Coleman twice in the opening half. Luis Desario opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, dribbling down the left side before unleashing a shot from the left wing outside the box to the far post, converting her fourth goal of the season.

Twelve minutes later, Rachel Hoaglin would extend the advantage to two, just beating the first half clock with a shot that went through Coleman’s hand with one second left in the half.

The goal would pay off, as Vickie Havas notched her team-leading fifth goal of the year with just over 10 minutes to play in regulation. Sarah Wood fed the ball to Jamie Avona, who played the ball up to Havas, leaving her 1-on-1 with Valpo keeper Nicole Manski.

Manski would make three saves in collecting her seventh win of the year.
